Nicaragua June 2018

So I will start out with one of my trips I went to this past summer. It was not the best vacation trip, let me just say it was more of a learning experience. Let me start out by saying I went to Nicaragua La Trinidad, with my mom, dad, and sister. My mom side of the family lives there, and I have not seen my grandfather for over 14 years because of immigration. With that in mind I have not seen my uncle who is mentally ill, and my other uncle for over 14 years as well. Let tell you our trip over all was very expensive no joke. When we arrived at the Managua airport at 7:00 at night, we were tired and ready to go to sleep. But our night did not end there. On our way to La Trinidad we were stopped by three block aids. The worst part was we did not know that there was block aids. People in Nicaragua at the time were fighting a revolution. When we arrived at the first one we found men in masks, with fire cracker guns. We were afraid of our lives, and my mother wanted to pay the men to let us through. But my father said it was not a good idea, because we could get robbed. I feared for my life that night, because men in these countries are known to traffic women if your not careful. In the end we were lucky and we made it out with the help of my mom who spoke fluently in Spanish. I was able to see my grandfather for the first time in many years including my uncle's. We did not get to see most of the beautiful parts of Nicaragua, because of the block aids. I got very sick from the water, because the bottles of water in the refrigerator got mix up with the clean water. I think the greatest part of being there was seeing my grandmother cousins land, his land was so beautiful in Malta Galpa. It was so beautiful and the scenery was breath taking. Another thing to keep in mind the flies are very bad as well, the flies like me a lot, so you know how that went down. I got to see my grandparents animals they owned who gave birth to babies. Such as the chickens, and the dog my grandmother owns her name is Palusa meaning hairy. My cousin after having pregnant complications got to deliver her healthy baby boy. I got to meet my grandmother's bird, he was so beautiful and a gentlemen. I loved everything about my grandmother bird, and I wish I was able to bring it back to the US. Overall I recommend people who do go to visit the area to take someone with them who knows the area. Who is fluent in Spanish, and that you can really trust. I was just lucky that my mom knew the people, the area, and the life of Nicaragua. If someone asked would I visit there again I would say no. But I would like to go back to only see my grandfather, because he's the only one I have left and I love him. I recommend this trip to those who want to see a different side of the world. One thing I will say, when I came back to the US I almost kissed the ground. We are lucky to live in america, people may say otherwise but you do not truly get to say that until you visit countries that are far more worse than ours.
